I pepper the papers of my students with red marks, and let the ink dots telegraph the course of their thought experience. Each sentence is a frontier. The syntax serves as a bridge — one can be careful, careless, or constrained in its creation.
What happens next after each period is a springboard which invites the students to take the leap, to gamble with the void: Will it take them to the next springboard? Or will it be bottomless, taking forever before landing?
