Daily Dementations: 12 June 2013

12 June 2013

Independence Day, so they say. I don’t know, maybe it’s just another holiday.

On the other hand, while in the hospital this morning, mother and I watched a show about the origins of various Filipino food. What caught my attention was the segment asking the audience what dish best represents our country: sinigang or adobo?

I know how to cook adobo. I choose adobo. Heh.

But sinigang is an amazing comfort food though, especially on a rainy day, or after a long, lingering storm.

  1. Just a thought: Adobo is not really Pinoy. It’s an imported cuisine from Spain. Sinigang is the all-Filipino food harking back to pre-colonial time, add to that inasal or sugba. But hell, I love adobo. 🙂

    1. You saw that segment from GMA’s iJuander? Hahaha!

Yeah, even my mother agreed that sinigang is most likely to get the top spot. (Even various surveys show that sinigang is highly favored over adobo)

Foreigners, however, remember adobo more than sinigang.

Damn it, now I want to sip some sour sinigang (it’s rainy here in Naga)
